加茂市場 東経133度46分5秒・北緯34度51分49秒付近が「福山城跡」です。即ち 宇甘川北岸で、加茂総社宮の南東の標高約３６０m  高さ凡そ １６０ ｍの山の頂部が福山城跡（東西４００m強×南北２５０m弱）です。備前と 備中の境付近に当たり、西方 約１８０ｍ（備中仁熊と備前加茂市場の国境）に 藤沢城跡があります。福山城は 2峰に別れていて  西側の頂上部を主郭とします。主郭を中心に延びる尾根に 幾つものの曲輪群を配置し 北方と 西方に 畝状竪堀群を供え 東方に 連続堀切を備えています。西側の頂部の一部は 福山城公園に 改造されています。主郭は 約47 ｍ× 約20 ｍの曲輪で 周囲は 険しい 切岸になっています。主郭を囲んで 下段に帯曲輪があり、主郭の切岸の北裾に 断続して 石が 積まれています。主郭から 北西側 南西側 南側方向に延びる尾根に それぞれ 曲輪群が 並んでいます。北西側の 尾根には１条の堀切があり、尾根の北端に向かい 小さな曲輪が３面あり、西端に向かい 小さな曲輪 ６面が並んでいます。 尾根の北側の斜面には 合計 １３本もの 竪堀が掘られています。北西側と 南西側の尾根の間は谷で、解りにくいのですが ５本の竪堀が 掘られているように思います。南西側の尾根には 土塁を供えた曲輪があります。その曲輪の南と 北に１条づつ堀切が 掘られており、不揃いな広さのの曲輪が ４面あり 北側斜面には４本の畝状竪掘を備えます。更に主郭か ら ２００ ｍも離れた尾根の南西端に 曲輪と浅い堀切があります。南西側と南側尾根との間にある谷部には 計４本の竪堀があります。南側尾根は 曲輪が３面連続し、少し離れた尾根先端部に４本の竪堀が あります。東側頂部は 自然地形に近い曲輪があり、東側に続く尾根は 狭い曲輪を挟んで 東西を１ 条ずつの堀切があります。この内 東側の堀切内には 土塁が積まれています。東側頂部から 南西側に延びる尾根には 細長い曲輪 が ２面続きます。その尾根の南西端に 浅い堀切が２条あります。即ち 加茂福山城跡は 加茂川中学校（平成２６年 2014年３月廃校）の南東の標高約３６６ｍの山頂で、西の山頂部は 福山城公園となっています。公園部分が 主郭で、城域は 東へと広がっています。途中に 林道が有り、土塁 塚の高まりもあります。応永（１３９４年から１４２７年）の頃 伊賀河内守頼氏は 加茂市場 元兼に移り住み、緊急時の備えとして 福山城を 築きました。大手は 東山城、搦手を 元兼に造り、本丸の東に 吉城山城を設け、三段の丘を築きました。後に 東山の頂上に 十カ城を 築き 福山城と十力城は 連携し 備中に備えました。河内守が 退くと 兵庫頭行隆が 城主となりますが、応永の終わり頃に 虎倉城を建設すると 虎倉城主に転身しました。その後は 難波氏 高見源右衛門等、虎倉城の重臣が 城主を務めたとされます。 「kibi2011.blog81.fc2.com/blogcategory-1.html」　片山久秀書状には 伊賀久隆が福山城に 滞在して いること、天正八年四月十二日付の毛利輝元書状には 赤川元秀が 福山城在番を 承諾したこと、 天正十年四月五日付の小早川隆景書状には 礒兼景道・手島景繁に対して 毛利軍は 福山城に布陣して 羽柴秀吉の出方を見るようになった事が 記されているそうです。「https://www.pref.okayama.jp/site/kodai/670342.html」

天正８年の上加茂合戦の時の城主は、新山兵庫輔益澄でした。毛利氏の侵攻に当たり、伊賀久隆の作戦に従い、少しの抵抗のみで 城を抜け出しました。福山城は 毛利の先鋒に 奪われ、先鋒に誘われ 毛利輝元 小早川隆景が入城し 虎倉攻めの指揮を発したとされます。「藤陽伝　伊賀氏一族と虎倉城記 備前虎倉城 (fc2.com)」 この山の麓に 伊賀左衛門(久隆)  河原五郎兵衛 河原源左衛門の別宅が有ったそうですが その場所を 特定できませんでした。 加茂川町史の記録の趣旨によると、福山城は 文亀２年（１５０２年 ）金川城主 松田氏の家臣であり 伊賀氏の国侍である 高見源右衛門の居城でした。天正２年（１５７４年）頃は 伊賀兵庫が城主でした。天正７年（１５７９年）７月８日 備前の宇喜多直家が 織田信長と手を結ぶと、裏切られた毛利輝元は 美作藩の真庭久世の寺畑城を 攻め落とすと、次いで 宇喜多氏の居城である岡山城を 落とす事を決心しました。そのために まず 宇喜多氏の最大勢力である 虎倉城Kokura-jyouを 奪おうとしました。田土藤沢城から 粟屋与十郎を大将にして 虎倉城の最前線の福山城に攻めかかると、福山城は 伊賀久隆の命に従い　兵も民も虎倉に集結していたので もぬけの空の状態でした。僅かの兵士達は 僅かの抵抗で 虎倉城の近くへ 退去しましたので、毛利勢の将の 桂源右衛門が 福山城に無血で入城しました。福山城の備えを 整え終わると、毛利輝元と 小早川隆景は 陣を前線に張り替えるため 竹荘を通り、吉川元春は有漢Ukanを通り 福山城に 合流しようとしました。元 福山城（鍋谷城の説あり）の城主であった 河原六郎右衛門を 道案内にして 福山城から 下加茂に向かおうとしたのですが 深い霧に阻まれ 河原さえも道を失い 土地の者に 道を尋ねながらの進軍を 試みたのですが、福山城から先で 村人に合う事が無く 気が付けば 福山城の２里（８Ｋｍ）程 先に つまり 上加茂に 進んでいたのです。止むを得ず 清経山に 本陣を張りました。虎倉勢が 野山Nosanの山間から見ると、ひどく疲れている様子なので 弓矢 鉄砲で射かけた後に 突撃しました。毛利軍に 犠牲者が出る中、虎倉軍に死者は無く、一説では１名の犠牲者を出すだけで 毛利軍を大敗させました。世にいう加茂崩れです。「虎倉物語・上加茂合戦記」 　According to the 加茂川町史 “Kamogawa town history ”, Genuemon Takami who was a Kuni-zamurai “country military commander” belonged to Iga clan who was a retainer of Matuda clan who was the lord of Kanagawa-jyou/castle, lived in Hukuyama-jyou in 1502, and Hyougo Iga was the lord of the castle in 1574    Because Naoie Ukita who was liege lord of Bizen province, formed an alliance with Oda clan in 1579, Terumoto Mouri get angry about destruction of the Ukita clan-Mouri clan alliance, and he captured Terahata-jyou "Oo-terahata-jyou" in Maniwa-Kuse in Mimasaka province and he determined to capture Okayama-jyou which Naoie lived in　Terumoto attempted to capture Kokura-jyou which had a greatest deal of influence over Ukita clan, before to accomplish the aim "to capture Okayama-jyou"    Because all soldiers and all people of Hukuyama-jyou are assembled in Kokura in accordance with the command by Hisataka Iga , when Yojyuurou Awaya who was the general, left Tado-Hujisawa-jyou and attacked Hukuyama-jyou which was the Kokura-jyou’s front line,  Hukuyama-jyou's residence had been like completely empty    The Mouri's army who don't know that, they were despising Hukuyama-jyou as only a small castle, and tried to climb the mountain surface where the trees were cut off to improve the outlook  A small number of soldiers had remained in the castle, threw down large rocks, logs and feces like rain    The Mouri army who afraid of damage, left from the castle temporarily and waited to be night    They made groups of about ten peoples and climbed in the dark with great difficulty along steep slope where are thick in the trees   But there was no man on the castle area where the bonfires were burned brightly    Genemon Katura who was a commander of Mouri army, entered the castle bloodlessly    Hukuyamaj-you was reinforced the security against the enemy after the occupation , Terumoto Mouri and Takakage kobayakawa were on the way from Takesyou and Motoharu Kikkawa was on the way from Ùkan, tried to joined up with Hukuyama-jyou's army together to reset up camp into battlefront    They attempted to march to Simo-Gamo using Rokurou-emon Kawara as guidance who was the lord of Hukuyama-jyou castle in past time, but even Kawara lost their way because of the deep frog   They tried to march asking local peoples the way to Simo-Gamo, but there was no local people on the way to Simo-gamo from Hukuyama-jyou, they reached to Kami-Gamo where is 2ri “about 8Kn” distant from Simo-gamo when they noticed　They set up camp unwillingly on Kiyotuneyama-jyou where was completely empty of a residence too as Hukuyama-jyou 　Because they were seemed tired out when Kokura army look down Kamigamo from No-san/mountain, Kokura's side soldiers shot or fired off so many arrows and bullets, and rushed the enemy position    Many Mouri's side soldiers became its victims, but Kokura side was no or one victim    And Mouri's side was severely defeated by Kokura side    The battle is called Kamo-kuzure “kamo downfall”

加茂市場の下(しも)、宇甘川の元兼橋を渡り、元加茂川中学校の横から 北の山道（裏）に回ると 右上に木製の祠があります。やや進むと、右上に進む山道があります。少し登ると 左手の高い土手に 石垣が見え、その高台の平坦地に 石の祠が祀られています。山頂を目指し城跡脇を通り過ぎると、中学校裏手より４５０ｍ程登った 所で 下り坂となり 道は反転します。城跡の東側の駐車場迄登ると、駐車場の東側の山上は 自然のままで、西は 虎口様の地形です。よく観光のために使われるルートは、吉備高原のびのび小学校の北のバス停 高谷木ノ実882番地から 標識に従って北東に 山裾に沿って １２０ｍ程進み 高谷松714--2番地で西に曲がります。１５０ｍ程進むと 高谷木ノ実konomi745番地（廃屋）の 変則的な十字路が有ります。最も太い道を 西に向いて ３００ｍ程登ると 城址に辿り着きます。加茂総社から「福山城公園」に 自動車を利用して行くには およそ１０分程 要します。高梁御津線沿いのバス停「加茂川中前」から 歩けば 約４０分掛ります｡ 竹部加茂市場線から 福山城公園に行く道は 幅が細くなっていたり 無舗装の所がありますので、急斜面の所では 路面状態に注意が必要です。 駐車場の東の尾根には ２条の空堀があり、更に東へと平坦地が続きます。駐車場の脇に ２の郭の曲輪があり、その西上に 主郭があります。２つの郭を合わせると ひょうたん型で 犬走りで囲まれ 北側の端に 石積跡と石の散乱があります。西端に「のろし台」の土壇があり、西側下に 大きな石が沢山あり、その下に 犬走りと２つ堀切があり、傍に ４条の畝状切り地を見ます。主郭の東側下に 犬走り（帯状曲輪）があります。以上を 言い換えると 福山城跡は 鞍部を中心に 東西の２つの郭で 構成されます。城跡の一部は 福山城公園になっており、西の峰と鞍部に はっきりとした曲輪があります。西側の山の頂上の郭は 細長く Ｌ字形をした平坦地で そこが 主郭です。主郭の周縁を 急勾配の切岸が 囲んでいます。その下は 幅の広い犬走りに 囲まれています。主郭の東側下段と鞍部は 公園や駐車場になっているので 遺構の状態を知る事ができません。西側の峰から 北西 南西 南に向かう３っの尾根には 小曲輪が連続しており、斜面と谷は 土塁と空堀が 交互に隣り合って 連続しています。東の峰には なだらかな傾斜地の二つの平坦面があり、東の尾根との間は ２条の空堀と土塁で護られ、南西に向かう尾根に 曲輪が２面あり その尾根の端に 浅い堀切が２条あります。「岡山県中世城館跡総合調査報告書 - 岡山県ホームページ (pref.okayama.jp)」　  If you cross the Motokane-basi/bridge over the Ukai-gawa/river at downstream position from Kamo-soujya/shrine and go around (back) to the mountain road from the side toward the north side of the old Kamogawa junior high school,　there is enshrined  a wooden small shrine on the upper right    If you go up a little further, there is a mountain path that procced to the upper right    If you climb a little, there is a stone wall on the high ground of the left,  a shrine which was made stones is enshrined on the flat land of the high ground    If you pass the ruins of Fukuyama-jyou/castle to aim the top of the mountain, the path changes to the down slope and reverses at the point about 450m from the back of the junior high school   If you climb via the parking lot on the east side of the castle ruins , the mountain on the east side of the parking lot remains natural, the west side is the topography like Koguchi ”a castle entrance”    I will show the most common routes to the ruins    If you go up according to the signs along the foot of the mountain to the northeast about 120m from the Konomi bus stop in the north of Kibi-Kogen-nobi-nobi elementary school where is neighborhood of 882 Takaya-Konomi, and take the Y-shaped path at 714-2 Takaya-Matuo  to the north “left road” about 90m, the path turns west at 718 Takaya-Matuo    If you go about 150m from there, there is an irregular cross path at 754 Takaya-Konomi (abandoned house)    If you go to the west on the thickest path and climb about 300m, you will reach the ruins of Hukuyama-jyou    It takes about 10 minutes to go to Fukuyama-jyou-park by car from Kamo-Sojya/shrine    It takes about 40 minutes by walking from kamogawa-nakamae-bus stop on the Takahasi-Mitsu sen/line    Because the way to Fukuyam-jyou park from Takebe-Kamoitiba-sen is narrow and is unpaved, it is necessary to pay attention to the road condition in the place of the steep slope   There is a two-article dry moat on the east ridge, the flat land continues further east    There are the 2nd enclosures beside the parking lot, and there is the main enclosure on the west    When the two enclosures are combined, they become a gourd-shape area where were surrounded by Inu-basiri “belt like enclosure : berm”, and there are a mark of stonework and scattered stones at the north    There is a dirt mound for the fire signal at the western end, there are a lot of big stones under the west side, there are Inubasiri and two dry moats under there,  there are the four Unejyou-Tatebori “畝状竪堀: artificial terrain where the mounts and the dry moats alternately next to each other” by the side, and there is a Inu-basiri under the east side of the main closure    I will paraphrase the above explanation   The ruins of  Fukuyama-jyou consist of two enclosures of east and west centering around a saddle-shaped depression    A part of the ruins of the castle is turned into  Fukuyama castle park, and there are the clear enclosures on the west peak and the saddle part    Top of western mountain is the main enclosure where is a slender-long and narrow L-shaped flat land　The main enclosure is surrounded by Kirigishi “bluffs”, with a steep pitch　The a lower places is surrounded by wide broad Inubasiri “berm：帯状曲輪belt like enclosure”　　The eastern lower stage of the main enclosure and saddle part become the park and the parking area, so it is difficult to know the remains of the original structure　Small enclosures are continued on three ridges of western mountain to the northwest, southwest and south, Unejyou-tateboris “a structure of artificial land form which many pairs of earthwork and dry moat continue” are on the slopes and the bottom of depressions    Two gently sloped flat lands are on the eastern mountain where are protected with two running of earthwork and a dry moat which are between the flat land and the eastern ridge , two enclosures are on the ridge of mountain to the northwest, and two dry moats are on the end of the ridge   吉城山城：高谷７４５番地の裏山 北緯34度51分50秒・東経133度46分21秒    十力城：高谷１０３８番地の北 北緯34度51分49秒・東経133度46分42秒    東山城：台ヶ峰・木野山の東 北緯34度51分48秒・東経133度46分57秒    馬場：加茂市場１８５（北緯34度51分58秒・東経133度45分37秒）・１８９番地等    門先キ：加茂市場１７７番地　大手：加茂市場１４１９・２２２５番地等    福山：加茂市場２１９８－２２００番地　門口：加茂市場２１４３・２１５０番地等　福山後口：加茂市場２２０５番地等　十力越：加茂市場２２３３番地等　大手後口：加茂市場２２３６番地　馬立：高谷６３・２３２・２４４番地等　忍阪：高谷４８４－５０９・５３４番地等　城ノ溺：高谷１１１８番地　十力城・大手：高谷１０７１（北緯34度51分46秒・東経133度46分47秒）番地等　城本：高谷１１２０番地　早見屋敷：高谷２４０５番地　長丸：高谷１２９７（北緯34度51分40秒・東経133度46分40秒）・１３２４番地等　東山：高谷２３６３番地（大谷圧力ポンプ所の北 北緯34度51分41８秒・東経133度47分157秒） 等　城山：高谷２４５１－２４５６番地 　　平成２３年（２０１１年）８月２０日
