上加茂朴ノ木319-1番地の北北東 下加茂鍋谷1028番地の南西の山が「鍋谷城跡」で 北緯34度51分54秒・東経133度47分56秒付近です。即ち 宇甘川北岸にある標高約２８０ ｍ、高さ約１４０ｍの山頂部が鍋谷城です。宇甘川沿いの東西・南 方向が見渡せます。下加茂から加茂市場や円城に向かう交通の要所です。鍋谷城跡の城域は 東西約 １１０ ｍ×南北約２４０ｍです。

山頂にある主郭であろう曲輪を中心 にした連郭式の山城で、山頂から南東へ 約３５０ m下った尾根上に 出丸の大手城跡があります。この山の斜面は北側をのぞき急峻です。主郭は 造作が少なく 凡そ１３０ ｍ×凡そ １５ ｍで「く」の字形です。中央その曲輪の中央南寄りに 約９ｍ×約５ｍの長方形の土製の壇があり その北隣に径２ｍ程の円形の凹みがあります。南東側に延びる尾根には 小さな曲輪の両側に 幅が約８ｍの 堀切が２条あります 南端の堀切の南に土塁があります。それより南に 曲輪が２面連なります。主郭の曲輪から北東側の尾根先端は 1 段低くなっており、帯曲輪と腰曲輪あります。こ れより北東は  手の掛けられていない 急な地形です。 北西側の尾根に幅７ｍ前後の堀切が２条あり、南東側の堀切の中央部は土橋の要です。両堀切間の尾根は狭く、東と西の斜面は まるで絶壁です。 城主は 松田家家臣であった 伊賀修理亮 伊賀伊勢守（伊賀勝隆：伊賀伊勢守入道昌信 十力城の城主） 河原備後守 河原帯刀（河原太郎左衛門直次の弟 兄と共に１３代征夷大将軍足利義輝より虎倉城主伊賀氏に預けられました） 片山宗兵衛久秀等です。伊賀兵庫頭行隆が 虎倉城に居城した折に 虎倉城の北方防備を担うため にこの地の重要性を感じ 築城し、弟の伊賀修理亮を 初代城主としました。伊賀修理亮は 金川城の松田左近将監元成の邑久郡福岡の合戦に出陣しました。「加茂川町の山城」　 城主の河原氏（河原備後守は 恐らく河原六郎右衛門でしょう）は 松田氏や伊賀氏配下でしたが、後に 毛利氏と羽柴秀吉が和睦した折、毛利氏に従い 安芸へ向かったと言われます。即ち 河原六郎右衛門は 同僚の懺悔により 常光寺で暗殺されたとか、三村氏の臣下である 宮内少輔等に助けられ 三村氏臣下となり、後に毛利氏側に逃れ 天正８年（１５８０年）の上加茂合戦の折り 毛利軍の道案内役を果たしたとされます。即ち 河原六郎右衛門は 軍事に優秀過ぎたために 出世を争う同僚にとっては 目の上のたんこぶであったので 河原六郎右衛門が 居城である鍋山城を 久隆に知らせず 強固に改修し続ける事を理由に 河原は毛利の間者だと 伊賀久隆に懺悔しました。 それをうかつにも信じた久隆は 河原主従を 振る舞い事をするので 常光寺に来いと 呼び出し 暗殺させたとされますが、実際には 暗殺されることを察し 部下達を犠牲にして 備前国から逃亡し 備中国に 逃れ 三村氏の臣下である 宮内少輔等に助けられました。しかし 左程に三村氏に 恩が有るにも関わらず 彼（河原六郎左衛門）は 毛利勢の小早川隆景の示す 甘い誘いに乗り 小欲に駆られ  松山城の天神丸を護る石川久式を騙し 天神丸を占拠し 松山城の落城の主因を作り、毛利氏の家臣になったとされます。上加茂合戦の折りには 適地の地理に詳しいと言う理由で 毛利軍の道案内役を務めましたが 濃い霧に道を失い加茂崩れの主因とを起こしました。これらの出来事には 河原六郎右衛門と河原六郎左衛門とが 同じような場面で登場しますが、古文書に書くかれる 右の崩し字と 左の崩し字は よく似ているため 現代字に翻訳された時に 間違いを起こした 可能性が高く  河原六郎右衛門と河原六郎左衛門は 同一人物と思います。

国道４２９号線の加茂新橋で 宇甘川を渡り、東に３３０ｍ程進み 北西に曲がり １５０ｍ程進むと 鍋谷川を渡る祇園上橋の西に 駐車場が有ります。祇園上橋の南東に 祇園下橋が有るので そこから尾根伝いに 北西に１６０ｍ程登ると 大手城城址の狭い平坦地が有ります。大手城城址から 尾根伝いに １８０ｍ程を登ると 鍋谷城城址の南端に 辿り着けます。そこは 館跡と思われる作平地になっており おくどが２個あり、勝利の神・戦いの神とされる 真理支天（摩利支天）を祀る小祠があります。馬の背状の尾根を 更に北に７０ｍ程進むと 空堀があり、更に１０ｍ程登ると 平坦地と空堀があり.ます。その向こうの平坦地が 主郭でしょう。「備前国のお城一覧(城郭放浪記) - 87城掲載 「www.hb.pei.jp/shiro/bizen では 鍋山城跡として 紹介されています。鍋山の城山は 規模は大きいのですが 立派な城郭は 見当たりませんので 鍋谷城の出城でしょう。加茂川町の山城の名前は 主郭と出城 を区別せず使われる傾向があります。加茂合戦の折りは 毛利軍が 虎倉を攻める時 本陣を置いたとされますが 毛利軍の進軍経路から推測すると そうであるらしく思えません。福山城や十力城と同じように 上加茂合戦に先立ち 伊賀久隆の作戦により 兵も民も虎倉に集合していたはずですので、大敗した毛利軍の主要部隊が もぬけの殻になっていたこの城に 一時的に逃げ込んだのでしょう。

Ruins of Nabetani-jyou/castle are located on the southwest of 319-1 Kamigamo-Hou-no-ki    The lord of this castle were Syuuri Iga, Ise-no-kami Iga, Bingo-no-kami Kawara, Tatewaki Kawara, Hisahide Soube etc.    Yukitaka Hyougo-no-kami Iga built this castle because he felt military importance of the area for northern defense of Kokura-jyou when he became the lord of Kokura-jyou, and he made Syuri-no-suke Iga who was his a younger brother, first lord of the castle    Syuuri-no-suke Iga went into the Hukuoka-jyou-gassen/battle in Oku-gun/county together with Motonari Sakon-no-syougen Matuda    It is said that Bingo-no-kami Kawara “Kawara is Rokurou-uemon kawara probably ” was under the dominion of Iga clan who was under the dominion of Matuda clan, subsequently he followed Mouri clan to Aki-no-kuni/province when Mouri clan and Hideyosi Hasiba became reconciled to each other    He show Mouri's army the way at Kamigamo-gassen/battle    It is said that because Rokurou-uemon kawara who was too excellent as a military advisor, he had been a pain in the butt for the colleagues who were competing for promotion, they made false report to hisataka Iga

that Kawara was a person secretly employed in espionage for Mouri clan for the reason he continued to strengthen his Nabetan-ijyou, to Hisataka Iga,  who accepted the report as true carelessly, Hisataka  called Kawara and his retainers to treat for their good jobs and assassinated, or it is said that 「Kawara who escaped from territory of Iga by becoming conscious of the assassination and he was helped by Kunai-syouyuu etc. who are the vassals of Mimura clan who was allied with Mouri clan   He was  allured by the siren call to be greedy by Takakage Kobayakawa of Mouri clan, and though Rokurou-zaemon Kawara was deeply in debt to Mimura clan, Rokurou-zaemon Kawara made the primary cause of the fall of Matuyama-jyou by the occupation of Tenjin-maru/castle of Matuyama-jyou with deception against Hisanori Isikawa who was defending Tenjin-maru and Rokurou-zaemon Kawara became a vassal of Mouri clan    It is said since Rokurou-uemon Kawara had a detailed knowledge of geographical features of the territory of Iga clan, he served as role to show Mouris army the way to the destination at Kamigamo-gassen」    Because the characters written in running style of 右“right” and 左 “left is ” are  similar each other in old documents, the probability to commit the error is high at translation to modern language,  Rokurou-zaemon and Rokurou-uemonn are same person probably　 Go up from Gion-simo-basi/bridge on R.429 toward the northwest about 160m along the ridge of the mountain, you will reach narrow flatland of the ruins of Oote-jyou    Go up from the ruins to the northwest along the ridge of the mountain about 180m ,  you will reach the southern extremity of the ruins of Nabetani-jyou where is a flatland where were believed to be the remains of the mansion with two okudos “cooking stoves” , and there is a Marisi-tensin-sya/shrine enshrined the god of war & victory named Marisi-ten on the flatland    Go up more to toward north along the horseback shaped ridge of the mountain about 70m,  you will reach a dry moat    Go up more  toward the north about 10m beyond the moat , there are a flat land and a dry moat   The northern flatland is the main enclosure of Nabetani-jyou probably   This ruins is described as Nabeyama-jyou in [備前国のお城一覧(城郭放浪記) - 87城掲載 「www.hb.pei.jp/shiro/bizen」    大手城：谷口橋の北西西 北緯３４度５１分７秒・東経１３３度４８分1秒    鍋山城：上加茂２６２番地の北の山 北緯34度52分1秒・東経133度47分40秒　大手：下加茂５８２番地　城ノ谷：下加茂８７９・８８０・８８４－８８８・８９１番地　鍋谷：下加茂８６３（北緯34度52分49秒・東経133度48分8秒付近）・１０２６番地等　　　平成２３年（２０１１年）７月１３日
